Welcome to Cosmopolitan International!
A Message from the International President ...
It’s the season of giving!
And staying true to this spirit, Cosmopolitans all over the United States and Canada are giving back in their communities. Not only during this season, but throughout the entire year. Here are just a few of the ways we are touching our communities.
Our Cornbelt Federation of Iowa and Nebraska has been busy the past 6 months raising $50,000 to get a mataching grant for a new mobile diabetes center to replace their old one. This unit goes out into the community and does free diabetic screenings. They have established a partnership with the Nebraska Methodist College of Nursing to staff this.
Our Rockford, IL, Club just completed their annual poinsettia sales. I understand they surpassed last year’s goal. They also participated in a local United Way fundraiser where teams of 20 had to pull a UPS Boeing 757 … and our Rockford Cosmo Team won!
The Clubs in the North Central Federation of North Dakota and South Dakota give a teddy bear and a diabetic bracelet to newly diagnosed children in the state.
The Heartland Cosmo Club in the Kansas City area held a pig roast and silent auction where all the proceeds benefited diabetes related projects such as sending kids to a diabetic camp.
The Omaha/Cornhusker Club does an Annual Christmas Party for special needs children in their community. This year they served 160 children and had about 100 adult helpers. Everyone enjoyed a turkey dinner and the children all got a sack full of gifts.
The Aurora, IL, Club is currently raising money to help fund a diabetes assistance dog for a local diabetic child.
I want to take a moment to THANK those that have invested themselves in these and other efforts in our organization to help others. You have been so gracious with your time and talents. The opportunity to give back to all our communities is there every day of the year, not just during this holiday season.
