A Message from the International President ...
Welcome to Cosmopolitan International! We are happy you stopped by to visit our website and learn more about us. Rosalynn Carter once stated, “I believe that one of the most important things to learn in life is that you can make a difference in your community no matter who you are or where you live.” There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer. With it beats the spirit of service, generosity, and compassion … and the health and well-being of our communities, our countries, and our world.
Here are just a few of the ways we are touching our communities:
The Cosmopolitan Club of Roanoke, Virginia, holds the Cosmopolitan Invitational Track & Field Meet which began in 1966 and is the longest running sports event in Southwest Virginia. Beginning with four high schools in 1966, the event now attracts 34 middle, junior and senior high schools and over 1200 student athletes. The meet has grown into the highlight of the year for many boys and girls who otherwise would not get the opportunity to participate in a major track meet. Since awarding its first scholarship in 2000, the club has awarded over $40,000 and now awards a $3,000 scholarship to an outstanding senior boy and girl track participant every year. This year’s event will be held May 1-3 at William Fleming High School. To learn more, visit www.cosmoclubroanoke.org.
The Rapid City, SD, Cosmopolitan Club gave a $10,000 donation to Kids Kamp for Diabetes Families to help defray the cost of the camp for some of the families. The Club also has ushered events at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center for a number of years and still finds time to clean two miles of Nemo Road twice a year as one of their community service projects. Find out more about this club at www.rccosmopolitanclub.com.
Speaking of Rapid City, SD, this will be the site of our 2014 International Convention held July 24-26. It promises to be rich with opportunities to visit with old friends and new, explore beautiful and historic America, and learn new ways to be instrumental in our fight against diabetes.
In every community, there is work to be done. Our members show that “Unity, Service, and Action” is more than a motto … it is a way of life for those who wear the Cosmopolitan pin. If you are not a member of Cosmopolitan International, I invite you to learn more about us. Explore our website and feel free to contact us at email@example.com or by calling 800.648.4331. We’d love to talk to you!
