2016/2017

International President

David House

Cornbelt Federation - West Omaha Club - Omaha, NE

Dave joined Cosmopolitan International with the Pathfinder Club in Fremont, NE in 1976. He served as both club President and Secretary, and also served as Cornbelt Federation Secretary under Governor Gail Nielsen of the Fremont 100 Club.

In 1981, Dave and his family moved to Omaha and because of activities and commitments with his three children he didn’t have the time to continue his membership in many of the outside activities he was involved in, including Cosmopolitan.

One of the couples in a local Bridge Club invited Dave and Sandy to a guest night for their local service club. It rekindled the passion for involvement with Cosmopolitan and he joined the West Omaha Club immediately. In typical fashion, he jumped right in and filled the position of Sergeant at Arms when the current position was vacated due to a death of a member. From there he became Vice President, and then served two years as Club President. He has also served as Club Secretary and chaired numerous committees. He quickly got involved in the club fund raising events, and was asked to assist the Cornbelt Federation with a web site. After setting up the Federation web site, several clubs were approached and added under the Federation site for very minimal charges.

After a couple of years as Lt. Governor for Website at the Federation level, Dave accepted the invitation to run for Governor Elect, and then Federation Governor. During these two years, he has been actively involved with the Cosmopolitan International Board, first as a participant and later as a voting member.

Dave works as a SQL Database Administrator for Berkshire Hathaway’s Insurance division called National Indemnity. He manages database servers in their Dallas and Omaha data centers, as well as lends assistance to the San Francisco office. He and Sandy also have a Flag Distribution business that they started several years ago that occupies much of his spare time.

Dave and Sandy are both quite active in local community activities and in their local church. They help facilitate Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University and will be coordinating that task in their church later this year. Dave also sings in a barbershop quartet that has been providing patriotic music for the New Citizen Naturalization Ceremonies in US Federal Court once a month for the past 18 years.

They have three children, and 5 grand-children. They both cherish the few times a year when the entire family can gather in one place and enjoy a rowdy good time. It is a house full with 5 grand children ranging in ages from 9 to 4. It really keeps both of us on our toes!

Rick is an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and of course Chicago Blackhawks fan! He is also a fan of open wheel racing. So if you want to quickly get Rick’s attention, start talking Indy Car or Formula 1 racing!

Rick feels that his previous work and life experiences have positioned him to serve Cosmopolitan International as V.P. of International fundraising.

“I quickly realized the night of January 2007 while participating as a guest at the annual Chili Shootout that becoming a Cosmo was a great opportunity to serve a greater cause. I was impressed by the quality of the people, the club and a chance to socialize and have fun while at the same time serving my community. It’s great to be a Cosmo!”
